A good day of fishing

By Erica Heckerman

It was a spring day and I was fishing on the dock. Before I went fishing I put my fishing pole in the back of my uncleÕs truck. The hook had gotten stuck on my dadÕs tackle box so he took pliers and took off the barb. Then the next day I went fishing and had totally forgot about yesterday. So we get down to the dock and I cast out my pole and right away I felt a tug. ÒOh Fish on! Fish on!Ó I said and a moment later itÕs gone. Oh man! Then the same thing happened again; about five times.ÓOk this is the last time IÕm going to try,Ó I said.

I cast out into the water and I waited for about ten minutes. ÒFish onÓ I said dully not excited because they always came off. But I still reeled in as hard as I could. ÒIts still on its still on!Ó I said with excitement. The fish flopped up to the deck, but than it fell off my hook flopping all over the deck jumping.

Every body was chasing the fish it was big too. My uncle, my dad, my grandma, me, my brother and both of my cousins were chasing my fish. It just fell off my hook and that it came to me,Ó oh crap the barbÓ I looked at my hook the barb was gone. My dad was cracking up laughing. The fish was gone and my little brother was in the water. Jake had chased the fish right into the water. I was so mad at my dad he knew the whole time. I was about ready to strangle him! After that every body was laughing at me. Next time when I go fishing I Õm going to check my hook and make sure every thingÕs rite.
