In the night, a small but deadly gas flows  Through the city of Portland, killing every Plant or person unlucky enough to be out side To Long. There is not stopping this gas. It feeds On Liquids that are held in healthy flours, leaves, And roots. There is no sign of the gas by morning. And deaths come oftenÉ

The reflection of the moon shimmers lightly Over the Columbia River. I, seventeen-year-old, Bellatrix blue sit on the soft light sand as I Shift it through my long, thin, black painted Fingers. It is getting late and I know I have to get Back before IÕm late for my meeting with the dorm Expector at my private school. He doesnÕt trust The dorm inspector is going to check that no Drugs hidden or something. But heÕs going to tell Us heÕs making sure nothingÕs broken. Picked up my things, my school bag, a jacket and My water bottle. I stood up, stretched and ran. I Loved the wind blowing through my wavy black Hair. The warm breeze itched my my ears, and my Long wide hoop earrings that I always ware That tickles my neck when I run. I run a long way, Past the four points hotel and couple of other Tall buildings and past china town. I wasnÕt Paying attention to ware I was going. My legs Some how always know where to take me. The Sights become blurry to my eyes though. This is Not normal. My head feels heavy. IÕm loosing Speed. Now IÕm concentrating hard on getting Back to my school. I can only guess whatÕs Slowing me down and I know IÕm right.  IÕm Breathing it in the toxic gas. After a little bit More of slowly running I make into the school. As soon as the doors close behind me, this air Freshener and gas detoxicater machine thatÕs Hooked to the wall is sprayed in order to keep The gas from getting us inside. I pull my cell Phone out from my pants pocket. I dial the Number of the dorm inspector and tell him heÕll Have to check the dorm with out me and that my Roommate Jenna will be there so we donÕt have To reschedule. I hang up the phone and start to Walk. My head goes from heavy to light. I feel as Though my mind is floating around in my skull. Then, out of nowhere, my best friend Harley Jumps into view so suddenly that I donÕt even

Know what happens next. My eyes roll back into my head and IÕm on the floor. I wake up and IÕm pretty sure I am in the Nurses Office. In bed. Its morning and all my friends are By my side. Harley is on the right, Jenna on the Left, and a couple of other friends. I turn to Jenna and ask: Ōhow was the inspection?Ķ she Laughs and answers Ō same as usual, nothing Wrong, you felling OK?Ķ she asks in her normal Low valley girl / punk voice. She is still in her Grey sweats and her kiss tank top. She loves the Band. I then turn to Harley. He has red frizzy hair That looks all static.  And his two year old Gecko sitting like a king in his hair. It looks so Funny. The Gecko goes almost everywhere with Him. ŌSorry if I scared youĶ is all he sayies. I Grin. IÕm not sure, but it looked as if he almost Smiled back. IÕm feeling much betterÉ that is Until the school Nurse comes in. Ō you kids Have classes, go. Scat! Scat!Ķ She tells them. Jenna Lays her hand on me shoulder. ŌWere going to Check back up on you if youÕre backÉ OK Bella?ĶI nod then look up to the nurse. Ō When will I be? Back to my classes?Ķ I ask. She thinks a moment and thenSays Ō a week at most. You need to go get your Shots. You could have died from that gas if I HadnÕt given you your first set of shots so soon. I come to The back and IÕll give your second set of shots.ĶI wave bye to my friends, and follow her into the back room. ItÕs a small white room with no window. I sit down in a big blue armchair and try To make my self-comfortable. It doesnÕt work. The chair is not comfortable. ItÕs hard and makes Me sick to sit in because its material is cow skin. Dead cow. The nurse adds some strange liquid to Syringe. She flicks it once and injects it in to my arm. Once again my head goes from my head starting to feel Heavy to me feeling light headed. Then, once more, IÕm Out like a light. I wake up a week later feeling fine. I go To my dorm to get ready for class. On my way I donÕt see Many people. Most of them I donÕt know. When I get to my Dorm, I see Jenna and Harley sitting at the couch.  In Between them was an old person. Jenna was the first One to speak. ŌI got you a job!Ķ I just stand there, so Jenna kept going. ŌI got you a job! At the old folks home!Ķ she looks so happy. ŌWhat for? and why?Ķ I ask. This is so Shocking. I donÕt want to work there? she has an answered ready. ŌBecause! Summers coming up and I think you should have one!  For money. And the best part is that we donÕt have to Wear Uniforms. We donÕt have to change any diapers, Because there are other people for that.Ķ She looks so Exited About this. I think IÕm going to loose it. IÕm mad. Then she says, ŌGot ya! I knew youÕd not like that! This is My grandma. I thought I told youÉ. you have to get your Own job.Ķ Then I smile. And so does Harley. ThatÕs SurprisingÉwe all laugh. including JennaÕs  grand mom.
