This is one of the sound pieces I have created. This is an instrument called a waterphone that I learned about and I thought sounded quite spacy.

Hi! Welcome to my Space Music webpage. Recently, I have been working with different music peices and sounds. I have created sounds that were made from electronic and acoustic instruments and tried to make them sound spacy. This is also part of my project I am doing in school.
Here are some of the devices I used to create my music: 1. A looper -- a looper is a digital recording device. With a looper, you can play music into it, either through a microphone, or using an electric instrument. The looper records the sound and then plays it over and over. As it plays back, you can add to the music, and it records that along with your original sound. There are many kinds of loopers. Even your computer can be turned into a powerful looper with the right software. However, I used both a Macintosh computer as well as specific looping machines, made only to make music. One of them was an Oberheim Echoplex Digital Pro. Another was a Lexicon Jamman. Finally. I used the built in looping tools in Digital Performer 2.7 -- a computer recording studio. 2. Electric Guitar -- an electric guitar is an electrical instrument just like a regular guitar except it has electric pickups that sense the vibration in a string and then turn it into an electrical signal that can be amplified. 3. Signal Processors -- These are boxes that will accept an electrical input from a microphone or musical instrument (like an electric guitar), and then create new sounds. It's very helpful to have a looper when you want to use a signal processor because you can stop playing your instrument while the looper plays the sounds, and then change the sound by turning knobs and pushing or letting up on a petal. Two signal processors I used were the Korg ax1000g guitar processor and the Lexicon Vortex. 4. Sound Mixing Board -- a mixing board is an electrical device that will send and amplify signals in different directions. I had a mixing board hooked up between the electric guitar, the signal processors, and our computer. I used a Tascam u428, which is a digital mixer that plugs into the usb port on a macintosh.
