Text Box: Dear Parents,
I thought you might appreciate knowing that School Closure discussions are again on the school board agenda. It is important that school board members hear from you. E mails, letters or addressing the Board directly at a meeting are important ways to express opinions and get answers.

Last winter the Board decided that they would close Lincoln if the total elementary enrollment reached below 1,050 children or financial needs required a school closure. We have a larger enrollment at this time, but the financial need is still in question.

Our legislature created a balanced budget for state services by increasing taxes.  Currently petitioners are attempting to get a tax repeal measure on the February ballot.  If they gather enough signatures, Oregonians will vote on the tax increase.  If it is on the ballot and then repealed, Ashland Schools could lose $544 per student for a total of almost $2 million.

For more information on the taxation system in Oregon and how it functions.
